2 Mechanized Corps [2 Korpus Zmechanizowany]

2 Mechanized Corps [2 Korpus Zmechanizowany] was formed on the basis of Airborne Mechanized Corps and divisional units of the Silesian and Pomeranian Military District, and was ready for operation on 1 January 2002. Its current headquarters and subordinate units are located in garrison Krakow.

During the period 1.01.2002 - 1.04.2004 Corps compound was operational - tactical intended to conduct combat operations within NATO itself and in cooperation with allied forces, the fight against the enemy ground and air, as well as a sharing in crisis management. During this period the Corps were subject to two divisions, five brigades, five regiments and two separate battalions."Affirmation" during the NATO exercise "Cannon Cloud 2002" (November 2002), confirming its readiness to command at Alliance formed an ad hoc and operational groups to participate in exercises in the role of the allied corps headquarters.

With effect from 1 April 2004 the 2 Mechanized Corps Command in Krakow sent to the organizational structure in direct subordination of the Commander of Land Forces the following Tactical and Military Units - : - 11 Lubuska Zagan Armoured Cavalry Brigade - 1 Mechanised Division Warsaw Legionowo - 6 Airborne Brigade - Assault Krakow - 25 Air Cavalry Brigade Tomaszów Mazowiecki - Engineers Edge 1st Brigade - 23 Artillery Brigade Boleslawiec - Combat Helicopter Regiment 56 Inowroclaw - 69 Regiment Anti Leszno - 2 reconnaissance regiment Hrubieszów - 5 Chemical Battalion Tarnowskie Mountains - 11 electronic warfare battalion Legnica .Furthermore, in March 2004 the 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade from Swietoszówhwas been incorporated into the structure of 11 Armored Cavalry Division and the Regiment of Highway 1 - Bridge of Deblin was subordinated to the commander of the Silesian Military District in Wroclaw.

After the transfer in April 2004 and subordinate tactical units in the direct subordination of the Land Forces Command - Command 2 Mechanized Corps was given new tasks. In the new conditions it is intended to organize and conduct training and exercises for certain commands and operational units - Army tactical or ad hoc task forces formed clusters. There is also a seed-level operational - tactical cooperation and interaction with the operational level HQs - NATO tactical. Is prepared to participate in exercises of national and allied command in the role of the body, and to command created an ad hoc groupings operating.

So far, 2 Corps Command Mechanized corresponding to preparing and directing exercises "Euphrates," and currently exercises "Bagram" - whose purpose was to check the status of preparation of the successive changes in Iraq NEC, NEC and now Afghanistan. Command of the Corps cooperates with similar HQs within NATO. Together with the Corps, ARRC (Allied Rapid Reaction Corps) and the Italian corps NRDC-ITA part of the working group set up by NATO's Allied Command Operations (ACO / SHAPE) for cooperation in the fields of training and coordination of the development of normative documents. It also cooperates in the establishment of the European Union Battle Group in 2010 with designated partners in the country - the founders of the group and the building of confidence and security in Europe, with 13 Corps Armijnym Ukraine.

2 Mechanized Corps Command inherits the traditions of the eleven operational relationships that exist in the Polish Army during the period from January Uprising in modern times. 5 Battalion Command was formed based on the decision of the Minister of National Defence, and from 1 January 2008 became a separate military unit formed on the foundations of rozformowanego 5 regiment headquarters. The manpower and the entire regiment (battalion currently) devoted a lot of effort and commitment to establish effective governance structures. It was also one of the first units of the Corps, which in 2000 was compatible with the standards of NATO. It continued to improve structures in line with the needs of NATO and the Army. The 5 Battalion Command, inter alia, included a Company Representative 2 Mechanized Corps, which participated (out of a guard of honor) as military assistance in all the ceremonies in Krakow.

At the same time in accordance with the decision of the Minister of National Defence NN 614/MON of 27 December 2007, the elements of the battalion took over command of heritage, traditions and symbolism of the military command of the regiment, the first in the Polish Army, which was protecting the functioning of the Command and General Staff Military District, Army units to perform tasks and Communications Security. This Military Unit, based on the decision of the Minister of National Defence NN 614/MON of 27 December 2007, took over and nurtured traditions of :

The 2 Mechanized Corps [2KZ Corps] is the first unit for operational - tactical Polish Army which acquired the "Affirmation" of NATO during the exercises, "Cannon Cloud 2002" (November 2002), and thus confirmed its readiness to command Alliance unit formed an ad hoc and operational groups to participate in exercises in the role of the allied corps headquarters. The Land Forces Training Center is located in north-western part of Polish, about 100 km from the Polish-German border. Here it is possible to train at the same time mechanized division and aggregation sub-units of one union tactical reconnaissance. Tactical exercises can be conducted with combat shooting ammunition in the composition of mechanized battalion reinforced with tanks, supported by artillery and tactical aviation, fire fighting ammo shoot straight to the 2400 m distance from the lufowych; train overcoming the obstacles on the bottom of water tanks and a method of forcing, to perform an impact aviation (squadron strength).

ANAKONDA 2006 was the first exercise of its kind for many years in which all the Armed Forces, Military Police and components of non-military services such as the Police, Border Guard and Fire Service are to take part. The 2 Mechanized Corps joined the exercie 21-29 September 2006, the first Tactical Exercise for many years with the all components and non-military elements of the system, linked by the field of conducting a defensive operation. The objective of the exercises was improving command and control process of combat components separated from forces, as well as carrying out actions (using it with a real army) in the combined defense operations within the country. During exercises the 2 Mechanized Corps played the role of Land Component Command (LCC).

The aim of the exercise is to improve the preparation of the chain of command at all levels in the process of directing combat components of the Polish Armed Forces. Furthermore, the exercise will contribute to the gaining of practical experience in preparing and carrying out activities in joint defensive operations in Poland and also preparing the command for directing large-scale operations. The exercise is taking place on 20-29 September on training grounds in Drawsko Pomorskie and Ustka, and also in marine training areas in the protective zone of the Polish Navy. In total, about 10,000 soldiers, 190 tanks and artillery pieces, 33 aircraft, 21 helicopters, 20 ships and 1380 other pieces of equipment are taking part.

11 Armored Cavalry Division [11 Dywizja Kawalerii Pancernej] is the only armored division in the Land Army. Within 2 Mechanized Corps is the largest tactical unit. The division continues the process of achieving interoperability with allied structures. This shock division account for the production of Polish PT-91 Twardy ["Hard"] tanks and the armored infantry. Support for sub-units of armored and mechanized assure artillerymen, equipment, among others, the Self Propelled howitzers and rocket launchers. Training Division is in proximity to the polygonal base, which is located in the region Zagan - Swietoszów and Wedrzynie. For many years, attended by division soldiers in UN peacekeeping missions, NATO missions in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the process of integration with the allied troops 11 DKPanc actively participated in many NATO exercises in Poland and abroad. Since 1994, the Division collaborates with 13 Panzer Grenadier Division of the Bundeswehr in Leipzig, under the Partnership Act.

25 Air Cavalry Brigade [25 Brygada Kawalerii Powietrznej] is an association dedicated to the pursuit of tactical action aero-mobile (air - Assault, Landing - Assault) in all types of combat operations. These activities can lead Brigade alone or jointly with other Army and Air Force, in the whole area of responsibility. As part of activities within the NATO forces can constitute a component dedicated rapid-reaction forces, expeditionary and peacekeeping.

23 Silesia Artillery Brigade [23 Slaska Brygada Artylerii Brygada] tactical artillery is an association dedicated to the overall fire support military corps / division.

The 1 Brzeska Engineer Brigade is designed to support the implementation of the tasks engineering affecting the efficiency and effectiveness of conducting combat operations in the operational and tactical level. Implementation of these tasks is possible only by appropriately trained military specialists. Therefore the main component of peacekeeping activities is the training brigade manpower and organizational command and sub-units to prepare them to perform tasks in the event of war. As the largest organizational branch of military engineering, the Brigade trains subdivisions vary in terms of destination and specialties. Soldiers of the unit take part in many operations under the UN blue flag. Participated in peacekeeping missions in Lebanon, Syria, Cambodia, Egypt, Namibia and countries of former Yugoslavia. Since March 2002, a platoon of sappers from the company's engineering brigade participated in counter-terrorism operation "Enduring Freedom" in Afghanistan.

The Special Regiment [Pulk Specjalny] is designed to conduct special operations mainly in the so-called Green tactics ["zielonej taktyki"]. It carries out its tasks within the country and abroad, in peacetime, crisis and war. As part of the special operations regiment performs the tasks of: recognition of a special, direct action, military support.
